Deep linking (open links in your app)

Make links to your website open straight in your app when it's installed.

Before you start

  • Access to your website's files
  • Your package name and SHA-256

    Turn on Deep linking

    Modules tab → Deep linking → switch on and enter your website domain.

    Create assetlinks.json

    On your website, create the file /.well-known/assetlinks.json with this content, replacing the values with yours below:

    Add Google Play's fingerprint too

    After uploading to Play, add the App signing SHA-256 from Play Console → App integrity as a second entry in the fingerprints list.

    Rebuild and test

    Rebuild, install, then tap a link to your site from WhatsApp or email — it should open in the app.

How to check it worked

  • Visiting yourdomain.com/.well-known/assetlinks.json shows the file
  • Links open in the app instead of the browser

Common problems

Links still open in the browser

Check the file is served over https with no redirect, and the SHA-256 matches the installed version (file download vs Play Store differ).
